Uganda
Market Research Consultant
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
1) Review the KIP master plan, existing and planned industries within the park, and available data on Uganda's industrial gas sector, and agree with our Client on the study's assumptions, boundaries and methodology.
2) Review the policy, legal and regulatory framework governing the production, storage, distribution and sale of industrial gases in Uganda, and flag any implications for the project.
3) Assess current and projected demand for Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, Carbon Dioxide and Dissolved Acetylene, broken down by consumer type and location, distinguishing between anchor demand (the refinery, petrochemical and fertilizer plants) and prospective demand (fabrication and welding businesses, hospitals and health facilities, manufacturers, and food and beverage processors etc).
4) Profile existing and potential consumers, including their current procurement
practices, existing supply contracts, and likelihood of switching suppliers to
inform realistic market-penetration assumptions.
5)To provide our client with robust market intelligence and evidence based commercial analysis through a comprehensive assessment of Uganda’s industrial gases market, to determine the market opportunity, demand potential, commercial viability and appropriate development requirements of the proposed Industrial Gas Island at a designated Industrial Park
6) Map the current supply landscape in Uganda, including local producers and importers, their approximate capacities, reliability, price competitiveness, market share and positioning.
7) Analyse prevailing pricing structures, typical contract terms and the main cost
drivers across the different gas products, and assess the competitive landscape's
likely evolution, including probable future entrants.
8) Quantify current volumes of imported industrial gases and evaluate the potential for import substitution through local production.
9) Review how industrial gases are currently distributed and stored, includingtransport and cylinder logistics, and identify bottlenecks affecting the market.
10) Identify gaps between current supply and demand, and the commercial opportunities and risks this present for the Industrial Gases Island.
11) Develop 10–15-year demand, supply and pricing projections, factoring in planned industrial growth within a designated industrial park and the wider Ugandan economy.
12) Develop realistic market-penetration scenarios and estimate the potential market share achievable by the Industrial Gases Island.
13) Prepare and present a Market Study Report, together with supporting data, to our client
14) Submit monthly progress reports and work closely with the Technical Working Group throughout the assignment.
